Help us to protect the beauty of Eryri

Caru Eryri is a volunteer initiative in collaboration with the Eryri Society, the Outdoor Partnership, and the National Trust. Our goal is to mitigate the growing impact of visitors on the National Park.

Our volunteers did an excellent job last year. This year, we need even more people to join us. We aim to extend our presence to more locations for a longer duration, enabling us to assist more visitors and provide greater support to local communities.

Volunteering for Caru Eryri

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and help to protect what makes Eryri National Park so special.

Your responsibilities will include some of the following tasks, among others:

  • Volunteering on Fridays, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Demonstrating willingness to communicate politely with the public and provide advice.
  • Maintaining a reasonable level of physical fitness to traverse the assigned patrol routes.
  • Advocating for the Authority’s work and encouraging the public to explore Eryri sustainably and responsibly.
  • Undertaking maintenance work on our paths.
  • You will undergo training about the nature of Eryri with Mike Raine.
  • Be involved in work that helps others to understand and enjoy Eryri.
  • Working in some of the most beautiful parts of Wales.
  • Work alongside experienced volunteers and National Park Authority staff.
  • Enjoy guided walks led by experienced mountain guides.
  • Become part of a welcoming team and spend time with individuals who share your interests.
  • We will reimburse reasonable expenses (vehicle mileage).

Caru Eryri has recently been nominated for the Environment Champion Award, for the St David Awards.
