Traveller and writer of ‘Wild Wales’
George Borrow was a traveller and writer who wrote books about his various journeys throughout Europe.
He published his book ‘Wild Wales: Its People, Language and Scenery’ in 1862. The book recounts Borrow’s personal experiences of travelling around Wales after visiting Llangollen in 1854.
Borrow learned a little Welsh while travelling around the country and describes the Welsh people’s wonder at his ability to speak the language.
Borrow writes about some areas of the National Park in his book, including Betws-y-Coed and Y Bala.
