Session 2 - Energy efficiency in older buildings
This introductory training will equip attendees with insights into cost-effective measures designed to lower energy bills and minimize environmental impact, all whilst preserving the historic charm of a property.
During the session, we will investigate thermal performance of traditional buildings and what factors can affect this, for example, the condition of the building, moisture content, ventilation and building materials and methods. We will discuss the simple changes that can be made quickly and easily, as well as the more major interventions such as wall insulation. The pros and cons of options will be discussed, together with laws and regulations that may affect the choices owners and custodians make.
The course will help attendees to gain the confidence to make informed decisions about retrofitting the unique architectural features of historic buildings.
