SMS (Sustainable Management Scheme) Amaethwyr Mawddwy is a circa £600,000 project funded through the Welsh Government and European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The project is delivered by Eryri National Park Authority and works with five landowners. It’s located in the South of the National Park in the Mawddwy Valley.
Project aims
The projects main objectives are to improve biodiversity and habitat connectivity through extensive hedge and small woodland planting, and restore peatlands to improve carbon and water storage.
In addition, the project will co-operate with small local organisations and the local college to promote and improve footpaths.
The project will be working along-side the Snowdonia society to host volunteer events in quieter less known corners of the National Park.
