As we start the Wales Ambassador Week, the National Park Authority has reached the remarkable milestone of 1,000 Eryri Ambassadors!
The award-winning Wales Ambassador Scheme provides people with free, online training and knowledge about the special qualities of areas in Wales. A series of online modules on a variety of themes is offered.
There are 3 levels of awards – bronze, silver and gold, depending on the number of modules completed. Courses are offered on Eryri and Bannau Brycheiniog National Parks, Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Flintshire, Wrexham, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, and a pan Wales Cultural Ambassador course will be launched soon.
The aim of the Wales Ambassador Week is to highlight the scheme and the diverse range of people that have benefitted from becoming an Ambassador. A number of activities will be organised during the week.

Their commitment to learn more about our National Park symbolises working in partnership and their commitment to protecting and promoting all of Eryri’s special qualities. Together we can inspire, educate and foster a future where nature, local communities and tourism flourish hand in hand.”
In addition to modules on the National Park’s special qualities, the Eryri Ambassor programme offers further opportunities to learn more about themes such as Sustainable Tourism and the Plastic Free Yr Wyddfa Project. To keep Ambassadors up to date with the latest information about the Authority’s work, a refresher module is published annually for all Gold Ambassadors to re-accredit. ome.

“Becoming a Gold Ambassador for Eryri has been the perfect platform to expand my knowledge and understanding of the unique character of this enchanting region of Wales.
Building on a lifetime of experience living and working here, it has opened up new lines of interest for me in our culture, heritage, nature and environment. Especially in honing a keen sense of sustainable stewardship, whilst engaging with visitors and locals alike, in promoting and assisting in their enjoyment of our area.
My landscape photography business has benefited immensely in terms of promoting my credibility and knowledge as a guide to visitors.”
