Cronfa Cymunedau Eryri Communities Fund (CCECF) is a fund for the benefit of communities in and around Eryri that will respond to support these communities to maintain and improve the quality of life for residents and build resilient communities.
The fund will detail a number of themes such as green infrastructure, improved access to recreation for health and wellbeing, energy production, decarbonisation, local environmental improvements such as litter and waste management, community development and the Welsh language.
Gwenno Llwyd Jones, National Park Authority Community Engagement Officer, said:
“The National Park Authority recognises the importance it plays in protecting our local communities. Through the fund, the Authority will give these communities the opportunity to develop projects of their own that will contribute to a sustainable future for all”.
The Authority understands that it is the local communities who have the expertise to understand their own needs and develop projects that will work for them. The fund’s projects will therefore be led by the communities themselves with the support of the Authority and applications will be considered by the panel if they comply with the themes.
The fund will provide capital funding to support projects such as the following:
Green Energy: Projects that will promote renewable energy such as solar, wind or hydro and reduce the use of non-renewable energy resources.
Improved access to health and wellbeing: Projects that will support the mental and physical wellbeing of local communities such as walking or cycling initiatives or the creation of community gardens.
Waste management: Projects that have the objective of reducing waste and litter in their communities such as recycling initiatives or a composting scheme.
Community development: Projects that will develop community cohesion such as hosting community events or groups.
Welsh language: Projects that will use and promote the use of the Welsh language such as interpretation boards, signs or language learning classes.
Successful projects in the past have included Tŷ Hyll interpretive signage, information technology equipment to Llanuwchllyn Village Hall and improvements to Abergynolwyn Centre.
Capital grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 will be provided to projects that meet the criteria and are approved by the panel. Snowdonia National Park Authority is committed to supporting sustainable development in the National Park and is confident the community fund will be a valuable resource for our local communities.
