Eryri has inspired various artists for centuries by actuating questions, discovering and reminiscing about the past, present and future of the Park.

This year, Snowdonia National Park celebrates 70 years since it was established and to note this milestone, artists from various mediums have been commissioned to celebrate the Park and its special qualities creatively on a new website with a virtual map of Eryri.

Wales National bard Ifor Ap Glyn was commissioned to write a poem, especially for this celebration and various artists have responded to the poem and the parks’ special qualities. Among them is a painting by Lisa Eurgain Taylor, a gate made by Joe Roberts; an environmental art installation by Tim Pugh; a song composed by Owain Roberts and Helen Wyn Pari. Artist Miriam Jones will create a baton that will be carried on a journey from the north of the Park to the south.

The virtual map will offer an opportunity to look back at some of the historical artwork curated by the National Museum of Wales and the National Library of Wales.

Creative workshops and projects by the area’s schools and colleges that foster the future’s artists will also be shared on the map, with virtual workshops by some of the project’s artists presented by Pontio.

There will be an open call for artists and the public to also share their work on the map.

Digital material available: short video interviews with every artist Angharad Harrop and Helen Wyn Pari’s dance film. A film with a reading of the poem by Ifor Ap Glyn. Music film by Owain Roberts and Eve Goodman. High-quality images of Joe Roberts’, Lisa Eurgain Taylor, and Tim Pugh’s work. Photos of the artist at work on location will also be available. A version with English subtitles will be available for every film.
