Measuring 3.5 miles long and three quarters of a mile at its widest point, Llyn Tegid is Wales’ largest natural lake. The lake is a popular place for water sports such as paddleboarding, canoeing, windsurfing and fishing.

At times during the summer season, when the weather is warm and the water is still, there will be toxic blue-green algae at Llyn Tegid. Look out for green scum on the surface. Do not touch or enter the water when you see scum on the surface, and inform the lake warden as soon as possible. When blue-green algae have been seen on the lake, the information is shared on the National Park website and on signs around the lake.

You can access the lake from Snowdonia National Park Authority car parks. There are two car parks—one on the lake foreshore and another at Llangower.
