The Eryri Communities Fund has provided vital funding for the installation of solar panels on the roof of Tŷ’r Ysgol (The School House), Rhyd Ddu Outdoor Centre. This significant development will help reduce energy costs and contribute to the centre’s commitment to sustainable practices.

Through harnessing the sun’s energy the centre will reduce their dependence on traditional energy sources significantly which will lead to a reduction in their energy bills. The savings can then be re-invested in the centre’s facilities, improving the overall experience for visitors.

Historical significance

Tŷ’r Ysgol has great historical and cultural significance as the former home and first school of the Poet T. H. Parry-Williams. As a tourism and heritage centre, it plays a vital role in attracting visitors to the area and promoting its rich heritage.

By producing clean renewable energy, the centre are reducing their carbon footprint and are contributing towards the worldwide action against climate change. This forward-thinking initiative is a great example for other local businesses and organisations and will inspire sustainable actions and a greener future.
